Fidelity Investments Introduces Two New Online College Planning Tools

529 Plan Comparison Tool and 529 State Tax Deduction Calculator Now Available

BOSTON, May 1, 2008 - Fidelity Investments® today announced that it has introduced two new online college planning tools on its College Planning Web Portal on Fidelity.com. The 529 Plan Comparison Tool and the 529 State Tax Deduction Calculator are now available to help families make more informed college planning decisions.

The 529 Plan Comparison Tool allows investors to conduct a side-by-side review of the features and benefits of 529 college savings plans. Investors simply enter their state of residence, select a 529 plan offered in that state, and choose up to four more 529 plans to compare and contrast information such as investment options, fees and expenses, rewards programs and contribution minimums.

The 529 State Tax Deduction Calculator helps investors determine if there is a significant tax advantage to investing in the 529 college savings plan offered in their state of residence. While withdrawals from 529 plans that are used for qualified higher education expenses are federal income tax-free, the Calculator can be used to determine the state income tax deduction available with specific 529 contributions. Fidelity's new online college planning tools are supported by Archimedes Systems, Inc.

"Customers are looking for help in trying to compare the investment options, associated costs and overall tax benefits of the more than 100 different 529 plans available in the market today," said Joe Ciccariello, vice president of college planning, Fidelity Personal & Workplace Investing. "Whether you are a Fidelity customer or not, our goal is to make it easier for every family to research and understand their college savings options, so they can make the right choices that will ensure a successful educational experience."

In addition, Fidelity redesigned its College Planning Web Portal, streamlining the content to make it easier for investors to navigate, find the information they are looking for, and learn more about the 529 plans managed by Fidelity.

Fidelity is a leading provider of 529 plans.
