Fidelity Reports Record Growth In Advisor 401(K) Business

BOSTON, April 2, 2007 -- Fidelity Investments today announced record highs in total record-kept assets, new plans funded and total plans on its Advisor 401(k) platform in 2006. Fidelity Advisor 401(k) is a suite of services for employer-sponsored plans offered through third-party financial advisors to small- and mid-sized companies.

Fidelity reported total record-kept assets in its Advisor 401(k) platform ended 2006 at $16.8 billion, an increase of 25 percent from $13.5 billion from the previous year.

For 2006, 428 new plans were funded on the Fidelity Advisor platform, up 44 percent from the prior year. At year-end, Fidelity's Advisor 401(k) platform serviced a total of 2,448 defined contribution workplace retirement plans.

"2006 was a tremendous year for us, as our advisor clients continued to demonstrate their success in servicing the 401(k) plan market," said Dave Liebrock, executive vice president, Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company. "The enhancements to our advisor-delivered 401(k) program, in addition to the Pension Protection Act of 2006, put advisors in an even better position to help address important components of plan performance -- participation, deferral rates and asset allocation -- while at the same time helping plan participants achieve their retirement readiness."

Liebrock pointed to a number of previously announced plan performance-related initiatives introduced during 2006 that contributed to the company's continued success:
Retirement Plan Review (RPR) -- Helps advisors work with plan sponsors to benchmark the components of plan performance and measure whether they are successful in helping participants prepare for retirement. RPR provides comprehensive data such as plan-level cumulative returns, participation rates, deferral rates and asset allocation, to help advisors maintain an ongoing dialog with their clients about plan goals and achieving plan sponsors' objectives.
Automatic Enrollment Service -- This service helps to address one of the biggest recognized barriers to enrollment -- inertia. If a plan has elected automatic enrollment, eligible employees automatically begin participating at the pretax deferral rate selected by the plan sponsor unless the employees specifically decline participation.
Fidelity Advisor Freedom Funds Cash Conversion -- With this optional service, plan sponsors can direct participants who do not select an investment mix of their own prior to the completion of the conversion of their plan to Fidelity be automatically invested in the Fidelity Advisor Freedom Fund that most closely aligns with their retirement date (based on their birth date), as directed by the plan sponsor.
Retirement Education Consultants -- A team of skilled professionals who can provide onsite initial enrollment meetings or online workshops to help educate employees on the benefits of their plan and motivate them to participate and increase their deferrals.
first|PERSON Retirement Checkup -- For eligible plans, the tool provides employees with an annual snapshot of their financial situation that shows them how their current retirement strategy is likely to impact available assets at retirement. Checklists and hypothetical illustrations further help employees determine if they are on track to achieve their retirement savings goals.

The tool's illustrations result from running a minimum of 250 hypothetical market simulations. The market return data used to generate the illustration is intended to provide you with a general idea of how asset mixes have performed historically. Our analysis assumes a level of diversity within each asset class consistent with a market index benchmark that may differ from the diversity of your own portfolio.

IMPORTANT: The projections or other information generated by Fidelity's Retirement Checkup regarding the likelihood of various investment outcomes are hypothetical in nature, do not reflect actual investment results and are not guarantees of future results.
