Former Fidelity Investments® Chief Information Officer Brings Proven Technology Leadership and Extensive Network of Industry CIOs to Firm
BOSTON, October 3, 2005 - Fidelity Ventures, a leading provider of "Go-to-Market CapitalSM" to early-stage information technology and communications companies, today announced Donald A. Haile, former Chief Information Officer for Fidelity Investments®, has joined the firm as venture partner.
In this new position, Haile will collaborate with Fidelity Ventures' partners to broaden the firm's network of technology industry leaders, provide the "CIO perspective" to portfolio companies and help identify new investment opportunities.
Recognized by Network World as one of the 50 most powerful people in networking in 2004, Haile brings more than 40 years of management experience in the technology sector to his new position, including the last seven years as CIO for Fidelity Investments, one of the world's largest providers of financial services.
As CIO for Fidelity Investments, Haile managed a $2 billion average annual technology budget that was invested in the global communications networks and enterprise-wide applications, the maintenance of the company's computer operations, as well as the identification, testing and integration of new technologies across the Fidelity enterprise.

As CIO for Fidelity Investments, Haile led the adoption of numerous emerging technologies across the company including a next generation enterprise wireless LAN solution as well as a business service management platform designed to help consolidate and correlate network and systems traffic load information from across the enterprise.
In addition, Haile has played a pivotal role, in collaboration with Fidelity Ventures, in organizing and hosting CIO roundtables on topics such as open source software and compliance. Leveraging Haile's vast network of IT relationships, the roundtables have brought together CIOs and top IT executives from leading firms across the country.

Before joining Fidelity in 1998, Haile spent the first 34 years of his career with IBM, where he held various executive positions in hardware and software development, with responsibilities for telecommunications, systems management and IBM operating systems. While at IBM, Haile led the company's acquisition of Tivoli and Transarc. He has served on the advisory boards of such leading technology firms as IBM and Siemens Communications.
