Active Traders Gain No-Cost Access to Integrated and Easy-to-Use Strategic Trading Technology
BOSTON, Nov. 15, 2004 - Fidelity Investments today announced the introduction of Wealth-Lab ProTM, strategic trading technology that provides active traders1 with unique portfolio-level
simulation and drag-and-drop programming functionality to quickly and easily design, build, backtest
and execute customized trading strategies2.
Now fully integrated into Fidelity's Active Trader ProTM trading platform and market data,
Wealth-Lab Pro was acquired from Chicago-based Wealth-Lab, Inc. in the spring and is available to
customers who trade more than 120 times over a rolling 12-month period, at no extra charge.
"We're helping active traders gain an edge in the marketplace by trading more strategically,
faster and easier than ever before," said Jeffrey R. Carney, president, Fidelity Personal Investments.
"This comprehensive suite of professional-grade analysis tools enhances our already competitive
offering and provides active traders with unsurpassed value."
Wealth-Lab Pro enables traders to easily build and test personalized trading systems though its
core tool, ChartScripts - trading strategies written in the WealthScript programming language. While
programmers can use this language to create original ChartScripts, non-programmers can use drag-anddrop
"wizards" or select from 1,000 pre-programmed ChartScripts to easily craft trading strategies.
"Technical trading and analysis has traditionally been extremely expensive, complex and
time-consuming for active traders," said Sanjiv Mirchandani, executive vice president of Fidelity
Personal Investments. "Wealth-Lab Pro eliminates these barriers by helping active traders
formulate, implement, and execute tested trading strategies without having to learn an entire
programming language. And for the first time, they can do so at no additional cost."
In addition to ChartScripts, Wealth-Lab Pro also offers:
|
| |
|
Free market data - 10 years of daily historical trading data from Fidelity plus 10 months
intra-day minute bars.
|
| |
|
Technical Indicators - a sophisticated and comprehensive drag-and-drop list, which
includes Relative Strength Index, Moving Average Convergence Divergence, Average
Direction Movement, Commodity Channel Index and Exponential Moving Average, that can
be applied to a price series or another individual indicator.
|
| |
|
Charting - using the technical indicators, traders can easily chart the performance of
individual stocks over specified time periods, including intra-day.
|
| |
|
Portfolio Analysis and Simulation - a trading simulation, including money management
rules, that helps traders analyze an entire portfolio and back-test against an individual or list
of securities.
|
| |
|
Real-time scanning - monitors list of selected securities and alerts traders when market
opportunities match trade execution strategies.
|
| |
|
Automated trading - allows traders to execute trades "hands off" in real-time, based on
selected market entrance and exit strategies.

The introduction of Wealth-Lab Pro strengthens Fidelity's comprehensive active trader
offering, which includes $8 flat commissions3 and a dedicated team of experienced trading
representatives. Active Trader Pro4, Fidelity's active trader platform, combines advanced trading
with sophisticated portfolio management and exclusive decision making tools. Features include
directed trading5, streaming market data and depth-of-book level II quotes, advanced technical
filters and real-time and historical time and sales. Sophisticated trading functionality includes
advanced online options capabilities and automated order types - contingent orders, one cancels the
other, one triggers the other and trailing stops.
