BOSTON, November 5, 2003 - As part of its expanding suite of health and welfare outsourcing solutions, Fidelity Investments today announced it is rolling out two new workplace benefits services that will empower employees to make better benefits decisions during annual enrollment and maximize their health care plans throughout the year.
Now available, the Plan Finder interactive online tool provides decision support during the benefits election process to help employees make more informed health plan selections. The Participant Advocacy service helps employees resolve individual claims issues and better communicate with, and understand their health care plans.
"We recognize the challenges employers face in addressing the rising costs of health care, and Fidelity is responding with solutions that enable workers to maximize their health care benefits," said Surinder Singh, executive vice president of Fidelity's Health and Welfare Administration Services. "These two new services will help plan sponsors increase the level of satisfaction that employees have with their health benefits."
Fidelity's Health and Welfare business provides recordkeeping, online resources and telephone support services to large corporations for their medical, dental, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, and other welfare programs.
The newest resources among its suite of participant support tools and services include:
Plan Finder - Utilized during annual enrollment season and for new hires, this interactive online tool helps employees identify the medical plans that best fit their personal preferences, such as whether it is more important to have access to a broad array of hospitals and doctors or to minimize the amount deducted from one's paycheck. Through a simple three-step process, participants enter their preferences, answer a series of trade-off questions and then Plan Finder identifies and ranks the available health plans that best fit their needs.
Participant Advocacy - This innovative service provides the personal assistance of a dedicated support specialist or "Advocate," who can assist employees in better understanding their benefits and resolving claims issues with their health care plans. Participant Advocates support employees in the following areas:
|
| |
|
Issues resolution - The Advocate assists workers in resolving issues with health plan claims administrators, such as determining the status of a claim, requesting expedited claims processing or understanding a claims denial or reduction.
|
| |
|
Plan communications - Advocates help participants reach the appropriate contacts within claims administrators. They also help ensure that participants understand their claims administrator's response to questions related to topics such as medical necessity, quality of care, diagnosis or appropriateness of care, or requests for exceptions regarding formulary or generic drugs. |
| |
|
Plan education - Advocates help participants understand their health plans and the rules and procedures to follow in order to effectively resolve a claims issue. Advocates also assist employees in comprehending plan details; including explaining benefits statements, referral and pre-certification requirements, as well as comparing in-network and out-of-network options. |
