Fidelity Announces Online Planning Tools For Millions Of Americans In 401(k) And 403(b) Savings Plans

New Tools Help Participants Better Manage and Evaluate Retirement Savings and Project Future Health Care Costs

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., August 19, 2003 - Fidelity Investments® is introducing three online tools to its NetBenefits Website that will allow more than 10 million participants in plans administered by Fidelity to analyze investments and plan for health care costs in retirement.

The new planning tools will help participants conduct a portfolio analysis, evaluate and compare their workplace retirement plan's investment options, and estimate out-of-pocket health care costs in retirement. Available in September, the tools enable participants to better analyze and manage their investments and make adjustments to their investing strategies during the annual enrollment season, which many companies conduct in the fall.

"We believe we have the most comprehensive set of tools in the industry to help participants better manage their retirement plan savings," said William C. Carey, president, Fidelity Institutional Retirement Services Company, the nation's largest provider of 401(k) plans. "These new online tools represent Fidelity's commitment to provide plan sponsors with communication and education resources to help employees better manage their workplace retirement savings plans. These tools can help participants, particularly those nearing retirement, make informed investment decisions and better anticipate costs in retirement, such as healthcare."

The new suite of customizable online tools includes:

Portfolio Analysis lets participants measure their portfolio's diversification by providing:

One-click access to their total portfolio - workplace and individual accounts - through NetBenefits so they can view their overall asset allocation mix
The ability to compare their portfolio with a market benchmark, making it easy to identify diversification gaps and determine where they may need to rebalance assets
The flexibility to look at their entire portfolio, or a subset of it, so they can make informed investing decisions

Investment Research helps participants compare and evaluate investment options available through their workplace retirement plan by providing the:

Ability to quickly sort and evaluate plan offerings based on performance, asset class and Morningstar ratings to assist participants in their decision-making process
Convenience of conducting a side-by-side comparison of up to five investment options if they have specific investments in mind they want to review
Ability to quickly search all available investment options based on investment name, symbol, fund family and top holdings

Health Care Cost Calculator helps participants estimate their out-of-pocket health care costs in retirement by providing:

The identification of gaps where supplemental programs - Medigap or long-term care insurance - are necessary to cover health needs in retirement
An overview of estimated premiums and out-of-pocket costs that are not covered, such as co-payments and prescription drugs
Educational information on health care costs to anticipate during retirement and supplemental programs available to cover these costs

Through its Workplace Services offering, Fidelity Investments provides human resources administration and employee benefits solutions to more than 15 million participants in more than 11,500 retirement, pension, health and welfare, payroll and stock plans as of May 31, 2003.
